Public Protector Statement on PEU

The Public Protector wishes to clarify that the findings contained in Report No. 32 of the 2018/19 were made against the City of Tshwane, and not PEU Capital Partners (Pty) Ltd (“PEU”).

The report, which was issued in December 2018, followed an investigation into allegations of the irregular awarding of the smart meter contract and improper conduct committed by the City of Tshwane.

The report directed that action be taken against implicated officials in the City of Tshwane, and not against any official of PEU. Any finding or remedial action or adverse statements which may have any connotations of wrongdoing on the part of PEU and/or the directors of Masana Technologies (Pty) Ltd is regretted as the investigations did not result in such a finding or remedial action.

The Report should therefore be considered in line with the above statement. A copy of the report can be accessed here: https://www.publicprotector.org/sites/default/files/legislation_report/PEU%20report.pdf
