Public Protector's Visit to MEC Not Private

The Lowvelder of 28 February 2003, alleges that the Mpumalanga MEC for Health, Ms Sibongile Manana, insisted that the Public Protector�s visit to her on Tuesday, 25 February, was a private one. 

Mr Mushwana would like to reiterate that the meeting with Ms Manana was by no means a private one and that it had been arranged by their respective offices some weeks ago, with the express purpose of discussing the Grip issue. A subsequent meeting was held with Grip on Thursday, 27 February.

The MEC agreed and undertook to seek settlement of her matter with Grip out of court to avoid an escalation of costs. Today, she reiterated that she is proceeding to settle the matter and that she has instructed her attorneys accordingly.
