Vision and Mission
Our Mandate
Sections 110 to 114 of Chapter 9 of the
Constitution of the Republic of South Africa Act No. 200 of
1993, provide for the establishment of the office of Public
Protector in order to investigate matters and to protect the
public against matters such as maladministration in connection
with the affairs of government, improper conduct by a person
performing a public function, improper acts with respect to
public money, improper or unlawful enrichment of a person
performing a public function and an act or omission by a person
performing a public function resulting in improper prejudice to
another person.
Our Mission
The Office of the Public Protector, is an
independent and impartial Constitutional institution established
to strengthen constitutional democracy by conducting
investigations into alleged improper conduct by organs of State,
facilitate resolution of disputes, report and recommend remedial
action and enhance awareness about the role and responsibilities
of our office
Our Vision
The office of the Public Protector strives to be
efficient, effective, accessible, known by all, and with our
impartiality accepted, thereby strengthening constitutional
democracy in all organs of state.
