NDPP and Public Protector Meet
Monday, 21 November 2011
The National Director of Public Prosecutions, Adv Menzi
Simelane and the Public Protector, Adv Thuli Madonsela, met
on Tuesday 22 November 2011.
The purpose of the meeting, which represented their first
official interaction, was to discuss co-operation on cases
that the two institutions are dealing with.
It is important that state institutions that form an
integral part of the criminal justice system and of
oversight bodies charged with ensuring good governance, work
together to ensure that the government’s commitment to
service delivery is not compromised.
This is also line with the Good Governance Week initiative,
where oversight bodies leverage each other’s strengths to
enhance their effectiveness and efficiency in rooting out
maladministration including abuse of power, state resources
and corruption.
